Notes on Bans on ontariofurries.ca

Furnal Equinox
Scope: All conversations regarding the organization. The site will provide no promotion or support for the organization.
Reasons: Multiple instances of spreading lies and insults against members of the community. Attempt to humiliate members of the community. Threats to humiliate members of the community. Blaming other members of the community for mistakes made by the organization. Rudeness to the site owner. Condescending behaviour towards the site owner. Unfair treatment towards the site owner.
History: I found the hotel for the convention, got the committee started, inviting people to be involved in it through ontariofurries.ca, figured out the date for the convention and introduce the convention to the first GOH.

We originally were going to wait 'till 2011 to hold an event, but I had the idea of doing a smaller event in 2010, which became the first year of the convention.

Eventually, some of the people I invited to be involved started withholding information from me, blaming me for their mistakes, and when I was away camping, removed me and my friends from the committee.

I continued supporting the convention, offering criticism, but the they would slander, insult and try to humiliate anyone criticizing them, for example, anyone who criticized the convention was accused of being against the con, regardles of how constructive or true the criticism was and after I offered to call it even for the work and money I spent to get the convention started if they gave me a free admission, they started saying I was demanding the con pay for my whole way. Hotel and everything. This behaviour lead me twice to ban the convention from the site, clean up their threads and let them back on after talking to them. It also lead me to banning some members of the committee temporarily as well.

When I attended the convention, some of the committee members were very nice and thanked me for helping (these committee members were later fired) but others were rude, ignoring me and hassling me when I was trying to help people. They also sent security after me for helping set up chairs for an event.

After the event, I made a post on the forum complimenting them on what they did well, and pointing how my criticism had turned out to be right and would have saved the con money, showing that I wasn't against the con as I was accused of.

I made a complain to the chairman about the rude behaviour and security stopping me from helping, but the chairman acted very smug and said it was not the convention's responsibility.

When I made a public complaint about it, it was promptly deleted, so I banned the convention again from the site.

Afterward, the convention continued calling me a liar when I claimed what I'd done for the convention on wikifur saying I'd never been a part of the real committee and was not a founder for which I asked people not to attend. Any reference to me or my friends or this web site, or what we did to get the convention started is denied and given no mention on their web site.

I believe, as a community, we should be honest and work together with each other to improve the community and praise people for their contributions, which is the spirit with which I dealt with the convention by encouraging everyone to share in building it especially those who had helped make it happen.

--Dan Skunk, Owner of Ontario Furries.

Resolution: The ban will be lifted if the rude behaviour towards the community and unfair treatment towards the site owner is rectified.
